landfill

NEW YORK, NEW YORK

I remember reading a purposed project in New York
connecting Lower Manhattan and Governors Island called Lower Lower Manhattan (LoLo).

Not that it is of dire concern to myself, living in the mountains of Montana, but as one who works, visits and enjoys New York, I hate to see it turn up with more problems such as the city of San Francisco is facing with liquefaction, and Chicago with groundwater contamination. With the increasing change of weather and more consistent earth shakes it is a wonder why the University of Columbia's Center for Urban Real Estate program feels that it is appropriate to build more instead of reconstructing the existing.

NYT published this article mid way through the A section Thanksgiving weekend.

And look from an article from KQED on San Francisco. Published in 2010 on landfill and liquefaction.

a wonder why.
